YY&D is currently employed by Yawuru the Traditional Owners of Broome. As the principal art consultant’s they assist Yawuru with the unique State Government direct aboriginal engagement initiative and the contract delivery. YY&D manage all of the art elements within the percentage for art contract for the soon to be constructed Broome North Primary school. This opportunity represents a tremendous step forwards on a number of fronts for both the State Government and the Traditional Land owners. Additionally an opportunity to showcase the practical application of the opportunities for the procurement of Aboriginal services in the broader sense. And more specifically localised engagement of Traditional Owners respecting their heritage and actively integrating  language and culture into the ‘built-environment’ of our modern world.

The dynamics, cultural sensitivities, practical challenges that sit behind this opportunity are significant and YY&D have been instrumental in the success we have achieved thus far. I think it is fair to say that without YY&D this opportunity would not have developed and we the art component to this project would have followed a standard Perth based delivery model. YY&D have demonstrated an exceptionally high standard of professionalism to all our project stakeholders, their needs, the artists, the cultural sensitivities involved and in terms of contract deliverables the quality of the art documentation and the design brief has been excellent.

I have no hesitation to recommending YY&D to anyone looking for consultancy services on any level, and look forward to the successful completion of the current project.
